Two ensembles from Neuchâtel invited choreographer Maud Blandel to create a stage version of Steve Reich’s cult piece Double Sextet. The performance derived from the minimalist American composer’s work explores the notion of “American cool” and attempts to expose its ambiguity using musical composition guidelines developed by Steve Reich himself. This version created for the Festival de la Cité is an extraction of the choreographic script’s essence, thus giving two dancers the space to perform this pas à deux on Nadia Lauro’s imagined stage.
