Greatness doesn’t have an age. John-Christophe Geiser knows a thing or two about that, since he became the Lausanne Cathedral’s organist at the age of 26. Simultaneously, he pursued a career as a concertist and excelled in the field by playing in more than 900 recitals all over the world. He helped create the Cathedral’s new organ that was unveiled in 2003. Lausanne now houses the largest instrument in Switzerland, and Jean-Christophe Geiser will make it dance during the festival. Bolero, Passacaglia and Chaconne are some of the composers featured, and pieces by Bach and Buxtehude will be played as well. After the recital, spectators will have an opportunity to discover this exceptional instrument up close through a guided visit.
