Lavagem explores the act of cleaning by using buckets, water and soap. Honestly, what needs cleaning? Dirty homes? Historical facts? That whiff of body odor caught when someone comes close? The bodies are painted with soap suds, giving us a glimpse of invisibility. The bubbles suggest a dream world which contrasts with the severe lack of social mobility in the real one. All these elements make the poetic imagery of exodus, rituals, renaissance and resistance come to life.
