Shadowpieces is a corpus of 11 soli. The idea of intimately working with every performer’s sensitivity and movement quality is what lies at the very heart of the project. Each solo is custom written by the choreographer in relation to the intense bond the performer experiences with the music that they choose from a repertoire. What results is a convergence between dancers Maya Masse, Léon Berben and Glenn Gould, and the music of Bach’s Counterpoint XIV and La fuga a 3 soggetti (The Art of Fugue). The sheet music features four vocalists and an atonal one - that of Maya, qanun.
