With his album Entendre, Nik Bärtsch invites us to dive into his musical mind. In it, he reveals facets of his art and the nature of its modular design. This Zürich native’s work over the past few years has focused on a profound examination of sound, both on prepared piano solos as well as his other projects. As such, Nik Bärtsch invites us to consider listening as an active and dynamic process. His modules are not fixed pieces of music, but rather templates on which he bases his work on. Using these outlines, he explores, practices and experiments with his performance, leaving significant room for improvisation.
